We will be conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, June 12, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. in Carlsbad.

Checkpoint locations are selected based on data showing a history of impaired driving crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road.

Remember, impairment is not limited to alcohol. Prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, ma*****na, and other substances can affect your ability to drive safely.

A first-time DUI can cost an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended driver’s license.

This program is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Knowing how your e-bike is classified can help ensure you’re riding safely, legally, and responsibly. Take a look and see where your e-bike fits!
Remember: Any electric bike without pedals, with a motor over 750 watts, or capable of exceeding California e-bike speed limits is generally not considered a California e-bike.
