For as much as we, collectively, bitch and complain (yes, if you know me I’m guilty of this as well), we all have to admit that we have it pretty good in the grand scheme of things.

The term “first-world problems” was surely coined here in the good ol’ U. S. A. considering we’re so accustomed to the liberty and freedoms we enjoy as Americans that we tend to forget the hardships and sacrifices that many before us have endured (and continue to endure) that, to this day, provide us all with ample opportunity to strive, thrive, survive this thing we call life.

So the next time you hear someone utter the words “well, so and so generation had it so easy”, ask them to pick up a history book (or GTS) and gain some perspective into the actual struggles at that given time in history.

In the meantime, I’ll continue my struggle to not take everything that I’m afforded for granted. And yes, the struggle is real....
