Today we recognize Harvey Milk Day and honor the legacy of one of California’s most influential civil rights leaders.

Harvey Milk was one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States and a powerful advocate for equality, visibility, and LGBTQ+ rights. His leadership helped challenge discrimination at a time when simply living openly required immense courage.

Clothing is not consent. Tight jeans, a short skirt, a bikini; none of it is an invitation for sexual assault.

Denim Day is a reminder to challenge harmful narratives, support survivors, and continue the work of advancing justice. Survivors are never to blame.
