For this week’s post, we are delighted to introduce one of our incoming 2023 Board members: Armilla Staley Ngomo! 👋

⚖️ Armilla loves representing indigent clients and providing them with the best representation money can't buy.

✈️ If she weren’t a lawyer, Armilla would probably be a social worker or psychologist. “Or simply travel the world, create adventures, and eat food from other cultures.”—sign us up for this too, please!

🇪🇹 Armilla’s favorite comfort food is Ethiopian, and her favorite city is Madrid, Spain.

🏖️ Her hobbies include lounging at the beach, hiking near the coast, and visiting children's amusement parks and museums.

🌊 Armilla’s favorite vacation spot is the U.S. Virgin Islands and she’s dreaming of a visit to Bora Bora.

🐉 You’ll find her indulging in House of the Dragon on HBO or reading any book written by law school colleague Margaret Wilkerson Sexton.

🎶 Armilla loves anything neo soul but her favorite artist is Raheem DeVaughn.

☕️ Although she recent gave up coffee (😱), her go-to morning beverage used to be a tall vanilla iced coffee from Starbucks.

🗣️ Armilla’s favorite event is our series, which will return in early 2023 when we introduce our newest Southern District Judges.

🙏 Last but not least, Armilla wanted to share that she is very excited to join our Board! And we are equally excited to have her.

🙋‍♂️ Stay tuned for profiles of our other two new Board members, and please send us a DM (or an email) so we can feature you in our weekly member spotlight series! We love introducing our members but we can’t do it without your help. We’ll send you a short questionnaire so we can share fun facts and personal stories that you won’t find on resumes or Linked In profiles.

We are excited to share a new post! This week we are featuring member Kevin Gregg! 👋

🎙️ When he’s not practicing law, Kevin loves podcasting! He hosts the weekly Immigration Review Podcast.

⛵️Kevin would pursue a career on the water if he weren’t a lawyer.

📺 Vikings is Kevin’s latest binge-worthy show, and he loves listening to Neil Young.

🚀 The Final Frontier is Kevin’s dream vacation spot, but his terrestrial go-to vacation is anywhere with a cabin, mountains, and a lake.

📚 Must read book? Endless Enemies by Jonathan Kwitney.

🏄‍♂️ Kevin loves to waterski and surf in beautiful San Diego.

🏙️ His favorite cities are Queenstown, New Zealand and Cape Town, South Africa.

🐊 Kevin cheers on the Florida Gators.

🤝 The best part of lawyering for Kevin are the intellectual challenges and helping others.

☕️ Coffee is a non-negotiable part of Kevin’s morning routine as an immigration lawyer.

🗃️ Kevin’s favorite events are opportunities to network with law students.

🙋‍♂️ Please send us a DM (or an email) so we can feature you in our weekly member spotlight series! We love introducing our members but we can’t do it without your help. We’ll send you a short questionnaire so we can share fun facts and personal stories that you won’t find on resumes or Linked In profiles.

United Against Hate Week (Nov. 14-21, 2022) is a call for local civic action to stop the hate and biases that pose a dangerous threat to the safety and civility of our neighborhoods, towns, and cities. The UAH campaign, which emerged from a poster campaign by Bay Area Cities, has spread to over 200+ communities.

San Diego will participate for the first time this year, and our Diversity & Inclusion Committee is a co-sponsor. Inspired by partners throughout California, the U.S. Attorney’s office is working to implement a powerful campaign that will empower local residents and communities to stand against racism and alter the course of growing intolerance. When cities and residents work together against hate, we can restore respect, embrace the strength of diversity and build inclusive and equitable communities for all.

Visit the link in our bio for more information on how you can participate in UAH Week.
