🌟 Officer Spotlight: Secretary Crysta Stella 🌟

This month, we’re highlighting the dedicated leaders who help make the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo a success. Today, we’re proud to feature Crysta Stella, Secretary of the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo Board.

Crysta has served as an officer since 2024, and first became involved with the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo in 2015. You may even recognize her from a recent Family Spotlight feature!
When asked about her favorite part of being involved with the Roundup, Crysta’s answer was simple: The fans!
The enthusiasm, support, and traditions shared by rodeo fans are a big part of what makes the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo so special year after year.
Looking ahead to this year’s event, Crysta is most excited about celebrating the rodeo’s 50th Anniversary and seeing fans enjoy the new additions to the grounds, including the North Beer Garden, located near last year’s newly added food court.
Thank you, Crysta, for your dedication and service to the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo.
Your commitment helps ensure that the tradition of the Greatest Show on Dirt continues to thrive for generations to come!

We're proud to recognize one of our own, Tomas Ellis, for representing the Southwest Kansas Bar Association at South Gray High School in Montezuma.

As a member of the Southwest Kansas Bar Association Board of Directors, Tomas had the honor of presenting a Law Day Scholarship to Gavin Wahl, one of five students selected across Southwest Kansas for his outstanding essay on this year's topic, "The Rule of Law and the American Dream."

The scholarship program recognizes high school seniors who demonstrate academic achievement, thoughtful leadership, and a strong understanding of the principles that shape our communities and country.

Congratulations to Gavin on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you to Tomas for his continued commitment to serving both the legal profession and the communities we call home.

At Kennedy Berkley, we're proud to support leaders who invest in the future of Kansas. 👏

For many farm families, estate planning isn't something they don't care about.

It's something they care about deeply.

It's just one more thing sitting on an already full plate.

One of the most common things we hear from farm wives and moms is that creating an estate plan feels overwhelming. But more often than not, the hardest part is simply getting started.

The relief that comes after having a plan in place? That's the part we love to see.

Because protecting your family, your farm, and your legacy shouldn't keep you up at night.

It should give you peace of mind. 🌾

Behind every title is a person.

We recently asked James Angell what he enjoys most about being Managing Partner at Kennedy Berkley.

His answer wasn't about contracts, courtrooms, or legal documents—it was about people, relationships, and helping families move forward with confidence.

Take a listen. 👇

In 26 years of doing this, I've learned the partnerships that fall apart rarely break on day one, they drift.

Splitting a business or a family farm right down the middle feels fair at the start.

But ownership stays fixed while life keeps moving: one partner steps back, another carries more, and the shares on paper stop matching who's actually doing the work.

That quiet gap is where tension starts. Clear roles, a real operating agreement, and an honest conversation now can keep a business and a relationship intact.

At Kennedy Berkley, attorneys Matt Odom and Blake Bittel approach family law with something we believe matters deeply: steady guidance, clear communication, and respect for the people sitting across the table.

In our newest blog, we’re sharing more about our approach to family law in Kansas and what clients can expect when working with our team.
