The practice began in 1929 and has a long tradition of serving clients. The firm's founder, James J Shannon, practiced law from 1929 to 1976 during which time he assisted many families in keeping their farms during the great depression. Several families he served honored him by naming their children with the first name of "Shannon". Shannon served Madison County as a legi

slator in the Kentucky House of Representatives, as a director of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Richmond and as an attorney. Shannon, Jr. (Of Counsel) continued this tradition as an attorney and by serving as an Assistant Attorney General, longtime Chairman of Richmond Board of Zoning Adjustment, longtime Treasurer of Telford YMCA, longtime President of the Madison County Historical Society, long-standing member of the Kentucky Heritage Commission and 1986 "Madison County Citizen of the Year". Ecton, Jr. has 35 years experience in many advocacy roles including the Comair plane crash of 2006, cases against insurance companies in big truck, motorcycle and car accidents, cases against large banks for unfair foreclosure proceedings, and as an assistant Commonwealth attorney for the 25th Judicial District. Walt has done extensive work in the areas of Estate Planning, Wills, Trusts and Power of Attorneys. He represents the Richmond Industrial Development Corporation and represented First Federal Savings and Loan and The Richmond City School Board until its merger with the Madison County School System. He has long-standing experience in drafting negotiation contracts, simple and complex.
