HOW LONG TO KEEP TAX RECORDS.
The Kentucky Revenue Cabinet says to keep tax returns and all supporting records until the statute of limitations run out for that return. That's usually four years from the date that the return was due or filed (with extensions) or when the tax was paid - whichever is later.

The Business Mileage Rate for your 2016 Tax Return is 54 cents per mile. The Medical Mileage Rate for 2016 is 19 cents per mile and the Charitable Mileage Rate is 14 cents per mile. These rates change every year and can go up or down so make sure you are using the correct one!

If you are claiming the Earned Income Credit or the Additional Child Care Credit for your 2016 Tax Return, don't expect your refund until after February 15th and most likely the earliest would be February 27th. This is new for 2017.

It's that time of year! Spring brings flowers, warmer weather, fishing season, setting clocks forward and YES - tax filing due date. However, this year April 15 falls on a Saturday and the following Monday is Emancipation Day in the District of Columbia. Therefore, if your fiscal year end is December 31, federal individual income tax returns are due the following Tuesday - April 18..... a small but welcome reprieve.
