First Full Day! Day 1. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ›๏ธWalked around Oia where we are staying. Found some fun cufflinks. Those who know me know that I collect cufflinks, wear them every day at work, and have over 60 pair. Took the Buggy to Thira which is the main town in Santorini. Walked around and had some Gyros and French Fries ๐ŸŸ for lunch. In Greece literally everything you order comes with French Fries. Buggy back to Oia for pool time in our Suite and a late dinner. Fried cheese ๐Ÿง€, Risotto, and Ouzo. Great Day 1 in what is our favorite place of everywhere we have visted. Lots of Caldera views today. ๐ŸŒ‹. Rewards.

Big change coming 7-1-23 in Virginia. ๐Ÿš˜๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš—

Warning! Nerdy ๐Ÿค“ (but Very Important) Insurance Post about a letter you are about to get from your Car Insurance Carrier. ๐Ÿ“ชโœ‰๏ธ

Underinsurance coverage (โ€œUIMโ€), how boring does that sound! ๐Ÿฅฑ๐Ÿฅฑ๐Ÿฅฑ

Well, it is pretty boring, for almost everyone on planet earth other than lawyers and insurance people. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ผ With that said, you might get a letter in the mail from your insurance company talking about some UIM changes, and options, that will make absolutely no sense to you! Isnโ€™t that just wonderful!!! Let me try and explain it.

You've got great insurance for your car worth $250,000. One day, Jake, who has insurance of only $100,000, crashes into you. ๐Ÿ’ฅYour expenses for the accident add up to $350,000. ๐Ÿฉป๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ

Jake's insurance pays you $100,000, which is all they can pay. Now your insurance (your โ€œUIMโ€) comes in to cover the rest. But before July 1st 2023, your insurance would only pay an additional $150,000. So, you could only get a total of $250,000, not enough to cover all your expenses. We call this the โ€œUIM Offsetโ€.

After July 1st 2023, the rules will change. The UIM Offset is eliminated. Now, your insurance can give you your full $250,000, plus Jake's $100,000, so you can get the full $350,000 to cover your expenses. ๐Ÿ’ต๐Ÿ˜ŠThis is a major change years in the making.๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽŠ๐Ÿ™Œ

But there's a small catch! The change in rules makes your insurance a bit more expensive. UIM is already very cheap. I pay only $70 a YEAR for $250,000 in coverage. ๐Ÿ˜ฑThat amount will be going up just a little bit.

You may get a letter alerting you of this change and asking if you want to pay more to keep your current coverage, or pay less for lower coverage. Donโ€™t fall for the trap! ๐Ÿชค Keep your current coverage. It's better to keep your full coverage, even if it costs a bit more. We are talking a few dollars a year most likely. With the few letters I have seen already, they will only change your plan if you ask them to. Otherwise, everything stays the same. Not sure if this will be the standard. Keep your policy the same.

Been in Italy for close to a week! Here is how the first week played out in the points and miles department.

Departure from JFK. Originally last year we booked Emirates Business Class from Emirates to Milan nonstop for 145,000 miles. We earned those points via Chase Sign Up Bonuses, mostly by paying for every day expenses like cat litter, groceries, and all the stuff people buy on Amazon. ๐Ÿˆ ๐Ÿฑ

We were able to upgrade to First Class apartments at the airport for another 60,000 points. ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ˜†โœˆ๏ธ. Whoo hoo!!

Total cash cost of the flight for the two of us was $25,000. We paid $150 in taxes.

Now to the hotel details. ๐Ÿจ Stop one was Lake Como. Last summer we booked 3 nights at the Vista Palazzo Lago di Como which is part of the Hyatt Umbrella under the Small Luxury Hotels brand. We booked three nights for 130,000 Hyatt Points we transferred from Chase. Cash cost at the time was $1,500 a night, so thatโ€™s a savings of $4,500. Totally free five star hotel on Lake Como in the town of Como. โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ๐Ÿž๏ธ Took a day trip to Lugano, Switzerland ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ which was amazing!

Then off to Venice! ๐Ÿšค๐Ÿ›ถStayed at the Caโ€™ Sagredo which is part of the Hyatt SLH Brand. 65,000 Hyatt Points for two nights when we booked last year. At the time the cash cost was $850 per night so that is $1,700 saved. Five star โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

So thatโ€™s $31,200 saved. We spent $150 in taxes. Thatโ€™s it. Anyone can do this. Literally anyone. It is truly that easy.

Fino alla prossima volta! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Personal and attentive legal represention since 2009.

I have represented individuals and businesses in a wide variety of practice areas since 2009. More than anything I see myself as a problem solver. I believe in personal representation where clients are promptly updated at every step along the way and phone calls and emails are returned very quickly. I immerse myself in every detail of my client's case and leave no stone unturned. I maintain an active general practice of law that includes personal injury, civil litigation, business litigation, wrongful death, contract disputes, business torts, drafting wills and powers of attorney, and traffic infractions. My clients value my approach to practicing law as I always set honest and realistic expectations from the very beginning. Because of this approach, I have earned the trust of my clients and have a reputation for professionalism in the courts, with other lawyers, and with the public at large. I am very skilled as a negotiator and have developed a reputation for resolving disputes in my client's favor very early on in the process. This is most apparent with my personal injury clients who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents. My clients have received maximum recoveries for their injuries many times without me ever having to file a lawsuit. I do a tremendous amount of work on the front end that is unique in the field of personal injury. Insurance adjusters have told me they have never seen someone work as hard as I do to obtain information and develop a case. As a result, I have a rapport with the insurance companies that is unmatched in the legal field. This allows me to settle many cases early on for the same amount of money as if it was litigated in front of a jury. Many of my personal injuries clients, as well as other lawyers, refer car accident victims to me for this reason. Over the years many of my personal injury victories have been published in Virginia Lawyers Weekly. Both inside the Courtroom and out, my clients depend on me for advice and representation with a wide variety of other legal matters. Among the many cases I have litigated are contract disputes, property damage cases, landlord representation, breaches of non-compete agreements, allegations of defamation, allegations of fraud, and Lemon Law cases. In my spare time I enjoy business networking and find the relationships I build through networking ultimately benefit my clients. I have the respect of my legal peers serving in various leadership roles in The Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (VTLA) since 2012. In 2020 I was elected to the VTLA Board of Governors. I have had the honor of being a member of the Lewis Powell American Inn of Court and spent seven years in Business Networking International (BNI), including terms as both President and Vice President. In 2017 I was appointed to the Virginia State Bar Fee Dispute Resolution Program for a three year term as an Arbitrator.
