If you drive I-81 near Harrisonburg, this number might surprise you.

According to VDOT, roughly 41% of all trucking traffic in Virginia travels on I-81 -- more than any other interstate in the state. That constant mix of tractor-trailers, mountain terrain, and everyday drivers makes this one of the most dangerous stretches of road in Virginia. The fatal accident rate on I-81 is nearly double that of other Virginia interstates.

Before you sign anything, our Managing Attorney David Noll has one piece of advice: read the contract.

Many home improvement contracts, especially those bundled through major retailers with third-party installers, include liability waivers, damage disclaimers, and arbitration clauses that most homeowners never notice until something goes wrong.

In Virginia, a well-drafted waiver can hold up. Once your signature is on the page, your leverage changes significantly.
