More than 230 hours of pro bono service. More than 180 expunction petitions reviewed and verified. A stronger, more sustainable Expungements Project for future Wake Forest Law students and clients. These are just some of the reasons Wake Forest University School of Law student Melissa Stuckey has received the 2026 Smith Anderson Pro Bono Award for Exceptional Service.
The award recognizes Melissa’s extraordinary commitment to expanding access to legal assistance for people in need. Smith Anderson partner Mike Mitchell presented the award on behalf of the firm, honoring Melissa’s work to help clients move forward from past charges and pursue new opportunities. Her leadership reflects the heart of Wake Forest Law’s Pro Bono Project and the purpose behind the Smith Anderson Office of Community Outreach, which the firm helped establish to support public service and access to justice.
Congratulations, Melissa, and thank you for showing how one student’s dedication can make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.
