Clay is an experienced attorney who has been practicing law since 2008. He is a lifelong Floridian and founded Gulf Coast Adoptions to spend more time with his wife, Cheryl, and to work and focus more on adoptions – something that is near and dear to both their hearts. “Cheryl and I decided to create our own family in 2016 and were determined to do that through adoption. We were blessed to have an opportunity to adopt our daughter, Sloane, that year which has really inspired us both to “pay it forward” and help others with the adoption process, which has been one of the most rewarding aspects of our lives.”

Gulf Coast Adoptions handles all types of private adoptions, including the placement of newborns or infants with adoptive parents. “We remain close to our daughter’s birth parents and know that the decision to place a child for adoption is never an easy one, it’s a selfless decision and one made out of love. We understand that, respect that, and it’s a driving force for us to ensure that the expectant parents and birth parents have the opportunity to hand-select a family they trust and believe will love, cherish, and support their child in the future, as they would themselves.” Gulf Coast Adoptions also handles step-parent adoptions, relative adoptions, second parent adoptions, kinship adoptions, and adult adoptions.

“Families comes in all shapes and sizes, and our adoption practice recognizes that. Some of the best phone calls Cheryl and I receive are from parents who want to ‘make official’ their parental status, even though they have been raising a child as their own for a long time and their child knows no other parent other than them. There is something about making it official through the adoption process that really hammers home what family is, what love is. We appreciate that so many families trust Gulf Coast Adoptions to handle their adoption and allow us to guide them through, and really share in, such an important event. “Family is the single most important thing in life and we are so lucky to be in a position to help others grow their families.”

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers out there!

Today, I am especially honored to share this day with our daughter’s birth mother. Adoption is built on love, trust, courage, and connection, and I will never stop being grateful for the relationship we share and the bond we have created together for our daughter.

People often ask what adoption looks like, and for us, it looks like a child surrounded by love from every direction. It looks like phone calls, visits, laughter, support, and choosing to work together so our daughter always knows how deeply she is loved. She has the blessing of a bigger family and more people cheering her on through life.
Adoption is not about replacing one love with another. It is about expanding love.

To every birth mother, adoptive mother, waiting mother, and mother figure today: you are seen, valued, and deeply appreciated. Happy Mother’s Day. 💕

Yesterday we celebrated Clay’s birthday, and true to form, it was business as usual for him.

He spent the day answering phones, supporting hopeful adoptive parents, and checking in on expectant mothers. That’s just who Clay is: dedicated, compassionate, and always putting families first.

His passion for helping grow families through adoption is something we see every single day, and it makes a lasting impact on so many lives.

We’re so grateful for all that he does and proud to celebrate him, not just yesterday, but every day. 💙

We know that behind every successful business is a dedicated team working tirelessly behind the scenes. We are incredibly grateful for ours! Their compassion, commitment, and hard work make everything we do possible. Without them, Gulf Coast Adoptions wouldn’t be able to support expectant mothers and adoptive families throughout their adoption journeys. 💙

Wow! It’s hard to believe how quickly January flew by. We rang in the new year with a placement on New Year’s Day, a truly special way to start 2026.

January is always a busy season at Gulf Coast Adoptions, as many families prepare their taxes and navigate the adoption tax credit. Our team has been working diligently to support families throughout this process while continuing to guide hopeful parents on their adoption journeys.

We are incredibly grateful and excited as we look ahead to another amazing year of helping families grow through adoption.

You can claim the Adoption Credit on your federal income taxes for up to $16,810 in qualified expenses.

On this Christmas Eve Day, Clay just finalized an adoption. We also have a mom in labor and potential adoptive parents traveling across the country. While most are wrapping gifts or gathering with loved ones, he’s answering calls, handling details, and walking alongside a brave mother and a hopeful family at one of the most important moments of their lives.
Adoption is more than paperwork, it’s compassion, sacrifice, and love in action. Today feels like a powerful reminder of the true meaning of this season: hope, selflessness, and new beginnings. ❤️🎄

Last night, we wrapped gifts for some of the amazing birth mothers and their children.

Many women who place a child for adoption are also mothers to other children and face real financial challenges. Supporting them is a way to honor their strength, sacrifice, and love, especially during the Christmas season.

This Christmas cheer would not be possible without the Bill Rankin family, who, in their time of mourning, selflessly named Gulf Coast Adoptions as a recipient of memorial donations. Their generosity turned grief into hope and helped make Christmas brighter for these families. For many of these families, there would not be gifts under the tree without this generosity.

We are so grateful to everyone who makes moments like this possible. ❤️🎄

Many thanks to Therese Felth McKenzie, Angela Crooke, Alyssa Tucker, Caroline Huff, and Tori & Summer Glatt for helping wrap everything.

At Children’s Home Society of Florida, we walk alongside families long after the adoption is finalized. Our Post Adoption Team is here to make sure every parent has a place to ask questions, find encouragement, and feel supported.

We invite our Circuit 1 adoptive families to join us for our Monthly Adoption Support Q&A on Tuesday, December 16. This relaxed virtual gathering is a great chance to connect with other adoptive families and talk through any needs or concerns with our Post Adoption Case Manager and Family Therapist.

We’re here for every step of your family’s journey. 💛
