Our Small Business of the Week is 🏳️‍🌈☕🥪

This week we’re spotlighting Neighbors & Friends in Old Pasadena and kicking off Pride Month! Neighbors & Friends is a community-centered café and sandwich shop that’s quickly become a welcoming space for locals and creatives.

Founded with the vision of creating a third space, Neighbors & Friends brings people together through artisan sandwiches, charcuterie, coffee, and intentional community building. Their commitment to supporting local makers, women-owned brands, BIPOC artisans, and LGBTQ+ creators makes every visit feel personal and inclusive.

In a community growing its LGBTQ+ friendly daytime spaces, Neighbors & Friends is helping create a safe and welcoming environment where everyone can gather, connect, and feel at home.

From beautifully curated boards to cozy café vibes, this Pasadena gem is building a future rooted in community, creativity, and inclusivity. We can’t wait to see what’s next for them!

Be sure to stop by, support local, and show them some love this June and all year long!

If you were impacted by the Eaton Fire, this is for you.

Join us on Zoom for two Virtual Town Halls this June, led by CEO Chris Holden, California Attorney Doug Boxer, and Bilingual California Attorney Maribel Medina. Together they will walk through who is eligible for a lawsuit against Edison, how the contingency fee works with no upfront costs, Edison’s Wildfire Compensation Program, the latest litigation updates and legal strategy, a detailed analysis of how the Eaton Fire started, and a live Q&A.

Both sessions take place from 4:00 to 5:30 PM Pacific Time on Thursday, June 4th and Thursday, June 18th. Register at LAFireJustice.com/Events and a Zoom link will be sent to your email.

Our Small Business of the Week is 🖤🍕

BLK Crust Pizza started in Altadena in summer 2024. Adrion Thomas built it from the ground up as a family-run pop-up, making pizzas for friends and family before the community started pulling up and spreading the word.

What makes them different is their signature black charcoal dough and slow-fermented crust. They specialize in really good pizza made by people who care about what they’re making.

The Eaton Fire hit them hard in 2025. Like so many Altadena businesses, they had to pause right when things were picking up.

But they’re still here. Still part of this community. And still worth supporting!

Share their name, show up when they pop up, and help keep Altadena’s small businesses alive!
