It’s a question homeowners ask us more often than you might think. Even with a fixed-rate mortgage, your total monthly payment isn’t necessarily fixed.

Changes in property taxes, homeowners insurance premiums, or your escrow account can all cause your monthly payment to increase, even though your interest rate hasn’t changed.

If you recently received an escrow analysis or noticed a jump in your mortgage payment, take a closer look at the breakdown. The increase may have nothing to do with your actual mortgage rate.
