This is a positive change. what this change is saying is that the FHA will no longer falsely inflate a borrower's DTI while a loan is in deferment. They will instead look at the actual monthly payment or the standard ratio instead of blanket 1% which for some people prices them out of owning a home when in some cases they can actually afford the mortgage and their monthly student loan payment.
