Saddened to hear of the passing of Judge Alan Apte. I was fortunate to try several cases before him over the years. He was a dedicated jurist who genuinely cared about getting it right and put tremendous thought and effort into every decision he made.

It is with profound sadness that we share with you the news of the passing of retired judge Alan Apte, on July 22.

Judge Apte received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Miami and his Juris Doctorate from the Nova University Shepard Broad Law Center. He joined the Florida Bar in 1993 and worked as a civil litigator and an assistant state attorney for the Ninth Circuit before being elected to the bench in 2002.

During his 18 years on the bench, Judge Apte served in every division at the Ninth, and as an Associate Judge at the Fifth District Court of Appeal. Off the bench, Judge Apte held leadership positions in the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges – Chair-Elect, Secretary, 5th DCA Representative, and Member of the Education Committee.

Judge Apte leaves behind a legacy of dedication to the law and service to his community. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
