More Than Just Opening Doors

Upon graduating from Weber State University, Ashley Wolthuis attended the Universitat Jaume in Castellon, Spain where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Development Studies. Today Ashley is a second-generation Certified Residential appraiser and owner of Element Appraisal, as well as an author for national real estate publications. She is an award-winning real estate agent with RE/MAX Associates

and was the recipient of the Ogden Connection 2021 and 2022 "Ogden's Favorite Realtor" award, Weber County Connection 2022 "Weber County's Favorite Realtor" award, the NWAOR Top 250 Realtor Award, the RE/MAX Chairman Club award, RE/MAX Hall of Fame, and a three-time winner of Indie Ogden's "Ogden's Best Realtor" award. Ashley is currently the co-Chair of the Board of Governors for the National Association of Appraisers and is the former President of the Utah Coalition of Appraisal Professionals (UTCAP).

Colby + Maddie bought a house!!!

A beautiful new house is exciting. But the people who fill it matter even more.

Today, Colby and Maddie closed on their Newhouse in Roy and I couldn’t be happier for them!

Yes, the house is incredible with gorgeous wood floors, a huge yard with garden and shop space. Not to mention the private community pool and pickleball courts.

But what makes this sale really special is knowing that two people who consistently give so much to their community now have permanent roots here.

After moving back home to Utah from Nashville they finally found the place that fits the life they are building and all the things they love most.

Congratulations, Colby, Maddie + Kids! Welcome HOME!

Utah has the BEST 4 seasons, and those in the know realize they are all about to start!

Season 1: Rhubarb
Slightly dramatic, and bright red. This is the season that shows up first in pies, jams, pickles and punches.

Season 2: Berries
This is the season that works best for those who like to get away from it all. Nothing says seasonal devotion than a 2+ hour drive to grab a fresh berry shake by the lake.

Season 3: Tomatoes
The king of Utah’s farmland. This is the season where we see neighbor’s aggressively gifting produce, while we all pretend we can finish the 47 tomatoes on our counter before they rot.

Season 4: Peaches.
A season so important they have their own days. It’s the season for sticky hands, and buying an irresponsible amount for canning, only to eat half of them before they make it to the jars.

To be a mother is to live with your heart walking around outside your body.

It is learning how to be exhausted and full at the same time.

To be a mom is to mourn every version of your child as they outgrow your arms, while celebrating every person they become.

It is loving someone enough to let them change. Enough to stand behind them when you would rather pull them close.

Motherhood is not perfection. It is showing up; again and again.

It is choosing love in a thousand ordinary moments until one day you realize those moments were never ordinary at all.

There are places in the world that change the pace of your thinking.

The Exumas are one of them.

We had 3 hours to list this house.

Our offer had been accepted on another home with the condition that this house would be listed within 3 hours.

Good thing I never met a deadline I couldn’t handle.

3 hours to get photos, marketing and everything else needed to list a house. We made it with 15 minutes to spare.

4 days later we were under contract.

Whether I have 3 hours or 3 months, I pay attention to the details that sell a house. And this house is officially sold.

What is something that people always get wrong about me? My last name.

Wolthuis is Dutch. And when my husband’s family moved to the United States they quickly realized no one could see its spelling and comprehend the pronunciation so they “Americanized” it.

One sibling said “Wall-thuis” another said Wall-thius” and my branch said “Wol-thuis.”

So if you ever worry about saying it wrong, don’t. We are all making it up.

My kids think we should change it back to the true pronunciation of “Volt-House” and it definitely has a nice real estate ring to it.
