We didn’t know our name had a second meaning 👀

And now that we practice personal injury… it gets interesting.

It’s our anniversary week, so here’s a KAZA fact you might not know.

Our name comes from Kristang, a Portuguese-based creole from Melaka, Malaysia 🇲🇾

In Kristang, “kaza” comes from the Portuguese “casa,” meaning “home.” 🏠

That meaning has always felt special to us. KAZA was built to help immigrants and families find their place, build their future, and feel at home in the U.S.

But here’s the plot twist…

In Turkish, “kaza” means “accident” or “mishap.”

And now, three years later, KAZA has expanded from immigration law into personal injury, helping people and families after accidents in New York City.

We had no idea when we chose the name.

Maybe it was just a coincidence. Or maybe KAZA was always meant to grow into both sides of what we do: helping people find home and helping people when life takes an unexpected turn.

Three years in, we’re still discovering new meaning in the name we built our firm around 💙

3 years? Feels like yesterday.

Looking back at those first photos and early days, it’s hard to believe how much has changed. What started as a dream to build an immigration law firm that truly understood the immigrant experience has grown into a community we’re incredibly proud to serve.

Every client who trusted us with their story, every approval we celebrated, every difficult case we worked through, and every person who simply needed someone to listen has shaped KAZA into what it is today.

And now, we’re taking another step forward.

We’ve expanded our firm with Immi Injury , a personal injury law firm created to help immigrants and immigrant workers in New York who have been injured, including in construction and vehicle accidents.

Different area of law. Same reason we started KAZA in the first place: to help our community when they need it most.

Thank you for being part of these first 3 years. We’re grateful for where we’ve been, excited for where we’re going, and honestly…

A memorable first CAALA experience for Daven Ghandi - Immigration & Injury Attorney and the KAZA Law team!

This was our first time attending, and it exceeded expectations. We met so many new people, reconnected with familiar faces, and walked away with meaningful relationships that made the experience even more worthwhile.

Over the 3 to 4 days of programming, we sat in on some great sessions. More than anything, it was a great learning experience delving deeper into PI and the latest developments. We are ready!

2 years. 2 cases. And 1 client who never stopped trusting us.

Client R first walked through our doors in 2024 with a dream: an extraordinary ability petition built on years of hard-won achievement in his craft. We filed. USCIS pushed back with an RFE. We pushed forward, together.

Then life brought a second chapter, and a second case: asylum.
