One of the things I like most about being involved with the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce is the people. Today’s Business & Community Expo gave me a chance to catch up with a lot of familiar faces, meet new ones, and have a bunch of great conversations with people from all around Mount Pleasant.

When an insurance company delays payment, the real cost often lands on the homeowner.

I recently spoke with Realtor.com about what that can look like in real life—credit card debt, temporary housing, delayed repairs, contractor bills, and the added stress of trying to keep things normal for a family while an insurance claim drags on.

One point I think is especially important: if part of the claim is undisputed, ask the insurance company to pay that amount now. A disagreement over one portion of the loss should not necessarily hold up the entire claim.

During the recent government shutdown, we headed out to Charleston International Airport to drop off lunch for the controllers. Easy call to make when they aren’t getting paid to be there.
