The Law Enforcement Torch Run® is Special Olympics Michigan’s largest grassroots fundraising program. Law Enforcement Officers and Corrections Personnel around the globe raise funds and create awareness for Special Olympics. Michigan’s program was founded in 1984 and continues to support over 20,000 athletes.

What an absolutely incredible day! 🔥

Today, the Final Leg team made their stop in Detroit, and Michigan showed up in a BIG way! As the runners made their way through the Motor City carrying the Flame of Hope and spreading awareness for the Special Olympics USA Games, our community lined the streets to cheer them on every step of the way.

We were honored to welcome the Flame of Hope into Detroit and be part of such a memorable and inspiring day. Thank you to all of the community members, law enforcement officers, athletes, volunteers, and supporters who came out to celebrate and show their support.

Today wasn’t just about representing Team Michigan—it was about standing together in support of all Special Olympics USA Games athletes and the Law Enforcement Torch Run movement across the country.

Thank you for making this a day to remember. Minnesota, the Flame of Hope is on its way! 🔥🇺🇸

Next Friday, June 12, the Final Leg team will be bringing the Flame of Hope through the streets of Detroit on its journey to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis, and we want Michigan's Law Enforcement Torch Run family there to help welcome them!

This is your opportunity to meet and interact with LETR members from across the country, celebrate our athletes, and be part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience as the Flame of Hope makes its way to the Opening Ceremony.

🏃 Run the 1.4-mile route through downtown Detroit
👏 Or join us at the finish line to cheer on the runners and celebrate the arrival of the torch

Following the run, we'll have a special ceremony featuring athletes, LETR representatives, community leaders, and lunch for all attendees.

Let's show the Final Leg team what Michigan LETR is all about! We hope to see a strong showing from across the state as we come together to support our athletes and carry the Flame of Hope forward.
