Lee Law Firm LLC hosted students from the Eau Claire TRIO Talent Search program (supporting first-generation & income-eligible students). They reviewed a hypothetical criminal case, discussed bad/good facts & defenses. A few brave students wrote & gave opening statements❗️One student, known to be quite shy, volunteered to defend her client with her opening statement. Afterwards, students who never thought they could ever be a lawyer expressed interest to learn more.

Sometimes it takes just seeing someone you can relate to, do something you never thought you could do, in order to expand your vision. 💭⚖️📚

Our client was accused of false allegations that could have thrown him back to prison for 5 years. To make matters worse, his probation agent made misrepresentations & refused to correct the wrong! For 6 months, he was wrongfully imprisoned. We refused to accept the institutional resistance against us & continued to press for accountability & due process. Ultimately, he was fully exonerated & released—free from all allegations! Deeply grateful to Isiah Holmes, Wisconsin Examiner, for bringing public attention to the profound stakes involved. Too often, individuals who have served their custodial sentences remain vulnerable to systemic failures that jeopardize their freedom & efforts to reintegrate as productive members into their communities.

Honored to receive the Kuchler–Nicholson–Stilling Award. This award is rooted from a trio of female attorneys who define what fearless, principled criminal defense advocacy looks like. They paved the way—insisting that constitutional rights are not technicalities, due process matters, & every person deserves a real defense. ⚖️

We additionally celebrate numerous other client victories obtained this month:
• A client’s criminal refusal (OWI-related) charge DISMISSED❗️
• A separate client’s Felony charge DISMISSED❗️
• Two clients prevailed at injunction hearings❗️
• A client facing a Theft in a Business Setting charge (over $100,000), facing up to 12.5 years prison, was sentenced to probation—no jail.

Results matter. But more than that, the work matters. The preparation. The advocacy.🗣️

Given the current state of our country, it is imperative that we move beyond passive observation and instead peacefully speak up for those who are marginalized, the vulnerable, and for our fundamental rights, including freedom of speech under the 1st Amendment and protection against unreasonable searches and seizures under the 4th Amendment. In Milwaukee, we stand in solidarity with the peaceful protest planned for January 28, 2026.
