Birdsall Muller LLC is proud to announce that both Attorney John A. Birdsall and Attorney Nicole A. Muller have been recognized by the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers with two of its most respected honors.
Attorney Birdsall and Attorney Muller have both been awarded the Martin Hanson Advocates Prize and the KNS Sensitive Crimes Award for their outstanding work in complex homicide and s*xual assault cases.
The Martin Hanson Advocates Prize is awarded to practitioners who have accomplished the rare and difficult task of winning a homicide case. While many attorneys take on these serious charges with skill and dedication, this award recognizes the exceptional work required to secure an acquittal, an outcome that reflects outstanding advocacy at the highest level of criminal defense.
The KNS Sensitive Crimes Award, honors criminal defense attorneys who have secured acquittals in felony s*xual assault cases involving either adults or children. These cases demand a unique combination of sensitivity, toughness, deep legal research, and highly skilled trial advocacy. They often require mastery of complex and evolving areas of law, including medical and forensic evidence such as SANE exams and DNA, as well as navigating the challenges of examining vulnerable witnesses and litigating within the constraints of r**e shield laws. In an era where the social and political weight of these allegations is immense, achieving an acquittal represents a rare and remarkable result against significant odds.
These recognitions matter. Not because of the accolades themselves, but because of what they represent: the countless hours, the relentless preparation, and the refusal to back down when everything is on the line for our clients.
At Birdsall Muller LLC, we don’t do this work for recognition, but it is meaningful to be acknowledged by our peers for the intensity and dedication we bring to every case. These awards are a direct testament to our commitment to one thing: winning for our clients.
