Earlier this year, Charlie Rittgers | Trial Lawyer was invited to be the commencement speaker for graduation at the Donald P. Klekamp College of Law . Charlie couldn’t do it due to a trial conflict, so they invited him to swear in the incoming class of 2029 last night.
He enjoyed talking to these new law students just as much and tried to keep his speech short and message simple:
• You are guardians for the rule of law and the Constitution. Keep the profession honorable.
• Seek things that motivate you and make you happy, even if it is not the practice of law.
• And never compromise your reputation.
Charlie also received the Longworth Award for 2026, which is given to one alum each year to recognize their contributions to our community. Thanks to everyone who had a role in that.
And good luck to everybody starting law school right now. You’re going to do great!
