He graduated from the University of Florida 1987 where he received his Bachelors Degree in Broadcasting and went on to work as an announcer for a variety of radio stations. Jason then attended the University of Denver Law School, focusing on trial and appellate advocacy and was selected to work as a Colorado District Court law clerk before moving back to Ohio in 2000.
