We recently spent the morning at the beautiful office of the Ferneding Insurance team talking through uninsured and underinsured(UM/UIM) coverage.

We have often mentioned this in our Diehl Digest newsletter strongly suggesting you talk to your insurance agent about this inexpensive but very beneficial add-on. John and Dan Ferneding invited us in, wanting their agents to better understand how this coverage really works for their clients—and it turned into a thoughtful, engaging conversation with lots of great questions.

We’re always grateful for the opportunity to connect with professionals who care about getting it right and taking care of people the right way. Thanks to John, Dan and the entire Ferneding team for the warm welcome and a really productive session.

🚗 What Is UM/UIM Coverage in Ohio?

About 1 in 7 Ohio drivers has no insurance, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation. ADDITIONALLY about 30% of those who are insured carry ONLY Ohio's minimum liability coverage which is $25,000.

So what happens if you or a loved one are seriously injured by one of them?

👉 Uninsured Motorist (UM) protects you if the at-fault driver has no insurance.
👉 Underinsured Motorist (UIM) applies if they don’t have enough insurance.

This coverage usually comes from YOUR own policy — and many people don’t even realize they have it.

🍎📚 Congratulations to Our Teacher of the Month – Mrs. Melinda Springer! 📚🍎

Diehl Law is proud to recognize Mrs. Melinda Springer of Waynesville Elementary as our February 2026 Teacher of the Month!

Mrs. Springer was nominated by Katelyn Magrino who shared a powerful story about the "life changing" impact Mrs. Springer made on their son Finn a few years ago. After struggling academically following COVID and feeling discouraged, he found confidence, encouragement, and belief in himself in Mrs. Springer’s classroom. Katelyn said Mrs. Springer literally “turned on a light” in their son, helping him grow, thrive, and believe in his abilities both in school and at home.

We were so happy that Mr. Magrino and Finn were both able to join us as we congratulated and thanked Mrs. Springer for the incredible work she does for all her students and the community! 👏

Teachers like Mrs. Springer do more than educate — they inspire, uplift, and help shape the future of our community.
