Stainless steel instruments come out of a medical autoclave at approximately 260 degrees F. They must be cooled before contact with patient skin during a surgical operation. We had a good outcome this week for our client who was allegedly burned by a scalding hot stainless steel surgical instrument. The patient was under general anesthesia and had no idea what had happened until she woke up in the recovery room. Laird Law investigated the case and uncovered what the medical records were hiding.

A very good outcome this week for our malpractice client, a hospice nurse, who allegedly suffered a catastrophic stroke during high velocity neck manipulation by a chiropractic clinic. Chiropractors do a lot of good but there is one type of manipulation that should ALWAYS be avoided.

A good outcome for the family of another Las Vegas patient who presented to the ER of a local hospital with an ongoing heart attack.

Patients with acute ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) should almost always be taken immediately to cardiac catheterization lab to have the obstructed artery stented. If the hospital doesn't have a cath lab, the patient needs to be immediately transferred to another facility. Even if it's at night or the weekend.

Some retail chain pharmacies make outrageous demands on their pharmacists. PharmDs can be expected to fill hundreds of prescriptions with limited staff, under draconian time pressures. Laird Law PLLC has filed suit against a major pharmacy chain after the company allegedly dispensed a medication to which they knew the patient was allergic. Pharmacy errors occur with shocking frequency- wrong drug, wrong patient, wrong dose, dangerous drug interactions, etc.
