We're wearing purple for . The team at our main office, Resiliency & Justice Center, Family Law Self-Help Center, and Civil Law Self-Help Center is available to help survivors with various legal issues, including temporary protective orders, housing, divorce, child custody, and more.

We delivered nearly 4,000 gifts to our foster youth clients thanks to last year's Foster the Future holiday drive with Anthem Injury Lawyers! Next Friday, we're kicking the 2026 drive off with a Trunk-or-Treat for the community with candy, games, and fun activities.

Join us from 5pm to 7pm on October 23 on the roof of the parking structure behind Anthem Injury Lawyers in Henderson (3145 St Rose Pkwy). Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped gift for a child in foster care.

There were 198 pro bono cases taken, 528 Ask-A-Lawyer sessions scheduled, and $5,500 raised for legal aid organizations during this year's Section Pro Bono Challenge with the State Bar of Nevada. Christopher Walther has volunteered in our monthly Ask-A-Lawyer events for years, providing crucial legal advice to those facing wrongful evictions, habitability issues, and other landlord/tenant matters. Christopher (a Director of Fennemore's Las Vegas office) also participated in our inaugural phone bank with KTNV Channel 13 Las Vegas and the State Bar of Nevada this April.

Thanks to this outstanding attorney, hundreds of vulnerable Southern Nevadans have received essential legal guidance. For his dedication to pro bono, we celebrate Christopher as our October 2026 Volunteer of the Month!

Nevada passed a new law called AB 121, which changes how residential leases are written after October 1, 2025. It requires a landlord to state the monthly rent as one total price. This price must include all mandatory fees. If a lease says the maximum total rent is $1,500, the landlord cannot charge a penny more.

The only extra charges allowed are for electricity, gas, or water. A landlord can only charge you extra for these if:

■ you cannot pay the utility company directly;
■ the lease gives clear notice about the extra charge on the same page where your total rent is listed; and
■ that same page lists the name and phone number for each utility company.

If a landlord tries to charge extra hidden fees or breaks the utility rules, those extra fees are illegal. You can sue the landlord to recover your costs and attorney fees, plus $250 for each violation.

Our team at the Civil Law Self-Help Center can assist you if your landlord isn't following AB 121. They're located inside the Regional Justice Center (200 Lewis Ave), and available Monday through Thursday from 7am to 5pm and on Fridays from 8am to 4pm.
