Recently, members of our team visited a local family farm in Marietta, Pennsylvania. It was a valuable opportunity to step away from our desks, walk through the pastures, and see the history of their family farm.

The farm has been in the same family for seven generations, and we could feel that history in every part of the operation. During the tour, we discussed what is most important to their family and the challenges they face in protecting the future of the farm. The family shared how they hope to grow the operation while eventually transitioning the farmland to their children. As a multi-generation family farm, having thoughtful succession planning strategies in place is essential not only for the success of the operation, but also for continuing their legacy.
