A major shift in transportation liability is here. The Supreme Court’s unanimous decision in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport eliminated a long-standing federal preemption defense for freight brokers, opening the door to state-law negligent hiring claims and creating immediate implications for brokers, carriers, and insurers alike.

Join Shareholders Doug Marcello and Trucking and Commercial Transportation Co-Chair Mike Traxler, joined by Vice President of Transportation at Marsh McLennan Agency Kevin Forbes, for a free webinar breaking down what this decision means for litigation exposure, contractual indemnification, and insurance coverage moving forward.

In senior care, delivering services is only part of the equation. Getting paid is another challenge entirely.

That was the focus of Shareholder Brian S. Dietrich’s presentation, “Get Paid for Services!” at the 2026 LeadingAge PA Annual Conference, where he shared legal strategies for addressing non-paying resident matters.

Our Senior Care team was also on site, with Senior Counsel and Co-Chairs of the Senior Care Group, Tanya Daniels Harris and Kim Selemba, who connected with providers and industry leaders on the legal and operational pressures shaping senior care today.

What happens when in-house counsel and business leaders come together for candid conversation, practical learning, and peer connection? A remarkable inaugural event.

The firm was honored to host the first-ever Saxton & Stump General Counsel Summit, with event partner Association of Corporate Counsel, Central Pennsylvania Chapter, and chaired by Shareholder Hon. Lawrence Stengel (Ret.). The Summit brought together in-house counsel and business leaders for a half-day of practical discussion around today’s evolving legal and business challenges.

From internal investigations and Pennsylvania government affairs to an interactive cybersecurity incident response exercise, the summit delivered actionable insight, engaging dialogue, and valuable peer connections.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Lancaster Country Club and helped make our inaugural summit such a success. We’re already looking forward to what’s next.

Join Senior Counsel Hon. Margaret B. Seymour (Ret.) at the 2026 Arbitration Institute, where she will facilitate a discussion following the Evidentiary Hearing Plenary, focused on the practical challenges of preparing for and conducting evidentiary hearings in both domestic and international arbitration.

This interactive, small-group session will explore distinctions between civil-law and common-law approaches, along with strategies for managing time, handling exhibits and objections, and delivering effective openings and closings. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions and engage in peer-driven discussion on real-world arbitration considerations.

We are also pleased that our affiliate, Optimal Dispute Resolutions, is serving as a sponsor of this year’s institute.
