Driver Fines: Drivers caught using plate-obscuring devices or tints face fines (commonly around $250 for use under updated vehicle code enforcement, alongside older provisions).

INSURANCE TIP: Having UM/UIM coverage could save you if you ever get into an accident if the vehicle that hits you either has no insurance or too low of a policy to compensate you for your injuries 🚘

If you get in a car accident and the person who hit you has no insurance or too low of insurance, you can go after your own UM/UIM policy for compensation. The best news is that your rates cannot be raised if you are not found at fault and this only adds a small additional cost to your total insurance monthly payment.

‼️ 2026 California Speed Cameras are generally set to ticket drivers going 11 mph or more over the posted speed limit. The cities authorized to implement the city-level pilot program are Glendale, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, San Jose and San Francisco. Tickets are mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle‼️

California has a new pilot program called FAST (Forwarded Actions for Speeding Tickets) where tickets for driving over 100 mph are automatically sent to the DMV, allowing for license suspension or revocation outside of court for increased safety, separate from existing fines and points for this offense. The goal is to quickly remove dangerous drivers by having the DMV review the incident and the driver’s record for administrative action, even if there are no prior violations, to prevent deadly crashes.
