This past Thursday, we hosted our first of 5, Roots of Retail event! We welcomed Kelly Padden of Padden Family Farm (Beecher, IL) to come talk about how to raise nutritious, pasture-raised pork and everything that goes into being a pig farmer! 🐖 We also got to take a look at some of her pork products, and some of our attendees even got to take bone-in chops home! 🥩

We hope to see you at our next Roots of Retail Event on 🐄 June 25th from 4-6pm at the Will County Farm Bureau. It is a FREE event where you will learn about the dairy industry and what it takes to be a dairy farmer, as well as the opportunity to make your own ice cream! 🍨 Be on the lookout on our social media to learn more about the event and be sure to RSVP by June 18th!

This summer, the Illinois Farm Bureau is hosting Nutrient Stewardship Field Days!

💬The field day will feature presentations by Andrew Margenot with the University of Illinois and others on soil health and its importance for land and economic sustainability. Those interested should RSVP by June 23 to 815-727-4811.

The 2026 Nutrient Stewardship Field Days are funded through IFB’s Nutrient Stewardship Grant Program. Through the grant program, 26 CFBs will collaborate on 17 nutrient stewardship projects. Additionally, 24 CFBs will work together on 17 pollinator conservation projects. Since 2015, IFB has awarded a total of $1.75 million for 192 county-led nutrient stewardship projects. Entering the fifth year of the Pollinator Conservation Grant program, IFB has awarded $165,000 for 45 projects.
