A total of 122,433 passengers traveled through the airport in February, according to a monthly report presented to the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority.
That figure represents a 4.4% increase over February 2025, continuing a multi-year trend of record-setting travel at the airport.
Year-to-date, Huntsville International has served 237,973 passengers, putting traffic 1.6% ahead of last year’s pace.

“If you’ve got a loaded gun and you’ve got children in the house, you got to worry about a civil lawsuit if someone gets hurt and you got to worry about possible criminal prosecution,” Huntsville Attorney Mark McDaniel said.

McDaniel said he has covered cases similar to this one, and finds that most of them are entirely preventable.

“If you have a gun and you have it even in a closet, where you can get it in the closet, that’s not good enough,” McDaniel said. “You need to have the gun secured. You need to have it in a safe. You need to have it in a place that the child cannot get to it.”

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in Trinity on Saturday, saying a 6-year-old accidentally shot his 13-year-old brother in the shoulder.
