☎Pick up the phone and call us :) It is important to have a lawyer you can trust and speak with.

It is no secret that more and more people are being arrested and charged with crimes. Houston resides in Harris County and is the busiest criminal court system in the United States of America. Every individual has rights to privacy and many times police violate those rights in order to scrounge for evidence. It is critical that everyone know a Criminal Defense Attorney, so that they know who to call if they have been wrongly accused of a crime. Being arrested or accused of a crime can be one of the scariest moments in ones life. I share a deep passion for the Criminal Justice system and would love to help anyone who needs to speak with a Criminal Defense Lawyer. Don't hesitate, call me and let's talk.

Applying for a green card through marriage? Avoid these common mistakes.

Marriage-based immigration cases can be powerful, but mistakes can lead to delays, requests for more evidence, or even denials.

Common mistakes include:

• Submitting incomplete forms
• Not providing enough proof of a real marriage
• Ignoring prior immigration issues
• Forgetting about criminal history
• Missing interview preparation
• Assuming every case is simple

Your relationship may be real, but your application still needs to be properly documented.

At Zavala Texas Law, we help couples prepare marriage-based green card cases with strategy and care.

• Arrestos o cargos criminales previos
• Viajes largos fuera de Estados Unidos
• Problemas de impuestos
• Obligaciones de manutención infantil
• Historial migratorio
• Solicitudes previas o negaciones

Información general, no asesoría legal.

Could an old address affect your immigration case?

In Matter of Diji, 30 I&N Dec. 1 (BIA 2026), the BIA said DHS may mail a Notice to Appear to the most recent address you provided - even if you gave it to USCIS before removal proceedings began.

If you moved without updating the government, you could miss your hearing and be ordered removed in absentia.

Keep USCIS and the immigration court updated separately when applicable. This is general information, not legal advice.

An arrest does not mean you are guilty — but what you do next matters.

If you are arrested in Texas, remember:

• You have the right to remain silent
• You have the right to an attorney
• You should avoid explaining your side without legal guidance
• You should not sign anything you do not understand
• If you are not a U.S. citizen, ask how the case may affect immigration

A criminal case can affect your record, your freedom, your job, your family, and possibly your immigration status.

At Zavala Texas Law, we defend clients facing criminal charges and help non-citizens understand the immigration consequences of criminal cases.

Do not apply for citizenship without reviewing your full history first.

Applying for U.S. citizenship is exciting, but it is also important to be careful.

Before filing, you should review:

• Prior arrests or criminal charges
• Long trips outside the United States
• Tax issues
• Child support obligations
• Immigration history
• Prior applications or denials

Sometimes, applying too quickly can create problems that could have been avoided with proper legal guidance.

At Zavala Texas Law, we help lawful permanent residents review their situation before applying for naturalization.
