Not necessarily. 😳
Getting out of jail in Texas can be a LOT more complicated than simply hearing a number and swiping a credit card.
When bail is being determined, the court may consider things like:
⚖️ The alleged offense
⚖️ The circumstances of the case
⚖️ Ability to make bail
⚖️ Criminal history
⚖️ Other pending charges
⚖️ Previous failures to appear
⚖️ Safety concerns
And here’s something many people misunderstand:
BOND IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE PUNISHMENT.
Texas law specifically says bail should not be used as an “instrument of oppression.”
Another big mistake?
Waiting until your family member gets OUT of jail before talking to a lawyer.
Those first hours and days can matter — especially when you are dealing with:
✅ Bond amounts
✅ Bond conditions
✅ Bond reductions
✅ Requests to modify conditions
✅ The beginning of the criminal case
So before you start calling everybody on the internet who promises:
“I can get you a $500 bond!” 😂
Talk to a criminal defense attorney who understands the Texas bail system.
Watch the latest Wadhawan Weekly Update as Attorney Tony Wadhawan explains why getting out of jail isn’t always as simple as paying the bond.
