Happy to bring some words of encouragement (and Loblolly king cakes) to the law students at Ole Miss who are interested in the solo and small practice life. Starting a small law practice in my hometown has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Solo and small practices help bring access to justice to every Mississippian. As we see young lawyers leave Mississippi upon graduation and senior attorneys retire and close up their practices, we need our best and brightest to stay in Mississippi more than ever. Even on the toughest days and most challenging cases, I can honestly say I've enjoyed every day learning and growing with Rush Law Firm!
As a Mississippi State Grad, I can't say H***y T***y- So, Cheers and Good Luck, Students!!!
-Anna
Our students heard from attorneys all across Mississippi about practicing law solo or in a small firm.
Rhea Tannehill (Tannehill Carmean in Oxford), Anna Rush (Rush Law Firm in Hattiesburg), Matt Dalton (Stroud Flechas & Dalton in Olive Branch/Water Valley) and Laithan Simmerman (Taggart Law Group in Ocean Springs) discussed their experiences working in and starting small law firms, offering advice to students interested in following that path.
We are so grateful to our esteemed panel for offering their words of wisdom!
