Hixson Market Update | May 2026
One thing we've learned studying the local market is that broad headlines rarely tell the full story.
What's happening in Hixson can look completely different from what's happening in other parts of Chattanooga, which is why we focus on local market updates by area.
The numbers from May show a healthy level of activity across the Hixson market. New listings increased compared to this time last year, giving buyers more options to choose from. At the same time, closed sales increased significantly, showing that buyer demand remained strong despite the increase in available inventory.
One of the more interesting trends is that the median sales price held steady at $390,000 while homes sold closer to asking price than they did a year ago. That tells us buyers are still willing to compete for well priced homes when they find the right opportunity.
Although inventory increased, months supply remained unchanged, which suggests the additional homes coming on the market are being absorbed by active buyers rather than creating an oversupply.
For sellers, the fact that prices remained steady while homes sold closer to asking price points to healthy buyer demand in the Hixson market.
For buyers, the data suggests that desirable homes are still attracting strong interest, making preparation and a clear game plan more important than ever.
Overall, the Hixson market remains active, with both buyers and sellers continuing to find opportunities in the current market.
We'll continue sharing monthly updates focused on individual Chattanooga area markets so buyers and sellers can stay informed on what's happening where they actually live.
