Department of Homeland security published a Federal Register notice designating Burma For Temporary Protected Status (TPS) effective May 25, 2021 through November 25, 2022 (18 months).

Application submission is from May 25, 2021 through November 22, 2021. Applicants are also eligible for temporary work authorization.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is extending the flexibilities to assist applicants, petitioners, and requestors who are responding to certain:

*Requests for Evidence;
*Continuations to Request Evidence (N-14);
*Notices of Intent to Deny;
*Notices of Intent to Revoke;
*Notices of Intent to Rescind;
*Notices of Intent to Terminate regional centers;
*Motions to Reopen an N-400 Pursuant to 8 CFR
335.5, Receipt of Derogatory Information After Grant;
*Filing date requirements for Form N-336, Request for
a Hearing on a Decision in Naturalization
Proceedings (Under Section 336 of the INA); or
*Filing date requirements for Form I-290B, Notice of Appeal or Motion.

This flexibility applies to the above documents if the issuance date listed on the request, notice, or decision is between March 1, 2020, and Jan. 31, 2021, inclusive.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services has announced that applicants who apply for naturalization on or after December 1, 2020 will take the updated version of the test.

The changes are:

1. More 28 questions have been added to the civic
test questions.

2. Applicants need to correctly answer 12 out of 20
questions.

3. It will continue to administer 10 (6 correct answer)
test questions to applicants who qualify for
special consideration because they are 65 and
older and have been lawful permanent residents
for at least 20 years.

4. Officers will ask all 20 test questions, even if the
applicant achieves a passing score.
