Our Story

I have been licensed to practice law in Michigan since 2001. Out of law school, I worked in a Grand Rapids firm specializing in Medical Malpractice cases and then spent seven years at Parmenter O'Toole in Muskegon, providing prosecutorial work for the City Attorney. For seven years I prosecuted drunk drivers and traffic offenders. Since then, I've worked in criminal defense as well as in family court, representing parents in child neglect and abuse cases. I put that experience from the prosecution to work in your defense, and I do it at a lower price than most - because even a first offense drunk driving conviction is a $10,000 affair by the end of the fines, costs, probation oversight fees . . . and everyone deserves a fair shot at a defense. I like to charge a flat fee up-front, although partial payment is negotiable in some cases. You will never pay a $1000 retainer only to receive a bill two months later for additional time spent on negotiations, reading mail from the prosecutor's office, or taking a call from you, the client. (Most attorneys bill from $25 to $50 for a brief phone call, since minimum entries are a quarter-hour.) The old maxim, "You get what you pay for," is not always true. With me, you will always get good value for your dollar. I'm not looking to get rich off of you. I want a fair price for my valuable service, nothing more.
