"Most people are familiar with blockchain in the form of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, but it has many non-financial applications such as for legal records or supply chain management. Because of its resistance to tampering, it can be useful for applications involving many participants who do not trust each other.

For example, it can track title registration in real estate transactions or help organize supply chains. Most of these efforts are still in the beginning stages and face many challenges, including finding skilled workers to implement blockchain. I think I’m just now learning about this because the last time I played video games regularly was before anyone even put a set of headphones on and played with or against friends or strangers while having conversations with them.

In other words, back then you either played against someone you were with, or you were playing against the computer/game itself. The games and consoles weren’t even on the internet."
