1. What skills do you think are most important for being a successful appraiser?
An appraiser has to be thorough and detailed oriented. It is often necessary to dig deep and then keep digging to find the answers, especially for complex properties.
2. What types of properties do you enjoy appraising the most (residential, ag, commercial, land, etc.)?
Large-acre ranches and highly developed suburban and rural estates.
3. What advice would you give someone considering a career in appraisal?
Find a reputable appraiser for a mentor and then take good quality classes. Get involved with an organization such as Appraisal Institute or ASFMRA for networking.
4. Fun fact about you?
I have a degree in art (graphic design).
5. If you weren’t an appraiser, what career do you think you’d have?
