Meet Project Clean Slate’s summer law clerk, Hannah Gorman!
Hannah is heading into her second year at Wayne State University Law School. During undergrad, she spent two years working at a public defender’s office, where she discovered her passion for public interest work.
She’s excited to continue that work at PCS by supporting clients through the expungement process and serving the Detroit community. Welcome to the team, Hannah!

Congratulations to Executive Administrative Assistant Sharron Lewis for completing her associate’s degree in general studies! Sharron was motivated to finish her degree to set an example for her daughter and show her the importance of finishing what you start.

The Project Clean Slate team is so proud of her and all she has accomplished. Congratulations, Sharron!

Huge congratulations to Project Clean Slate Legal Assistant Chadan Williamson on earning her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, with a minor in pre-law, this past weekend!

Three years ago, Chadan was inspired to return to school and pursue a degree that aligned with the meaningful work she was doing every day. When Chadan joined PCS in 2023, the program provided the flexibility that made it possible for her to return to school and begin her studies at Wayne State University in January 2024. Now that she has earned her bachelor’s degree, Chadan plans to return to WSU next year to pursue her master of studies in law.

The entire PCS team is incredibly proud of Chadan and all she has accomplished. Congratulations, Chadan!

Shanice Moore has been serving as a Staff Attorney with Project Clean Slate for the past three years.

Before joining PCS, Shanice worked with a Detroit nonprofit supporting individuals navigating the eviction process. She finds her work with PCS meaningful because she gets to connect with clients and learn about their backgrounds and life stories.

Project Clean Slate is deeply grateful to for their continued investment in advancing justice reform across Michigan.

PCS would not be able to expunge as many convictions as it does without MJF’s support. By funding our hearing attorneys, who are essential to our daily operations, their partnership allows us to help thousands of Detroiters clear their records at no cost. MJF also funded our recently released 10-year Impact Report, which highlights our program’s data and client testimonials.

With the support of MJF, PCS has now surpassed 20,000 expungements for Detroiters! Each expungement represents a second chance, opening doors to new opportunities in employment, housing and so much more. Clients speak of regained confidence and moving forward without barriers that a criminal conviction imposes. PCS shares this accomplishment with MJF, whose support has created lasting positive change in Detroit.
