We're proud to announce a $1.5M investment into Lakeshore Legal Aid and Michigan Legal Services to support homeowners who are at immediate risk of tax foreclosure.

This pilot program supports Detroit families living in "heirs" properties with probate services, so we can help protect generational wealth.

We are grateful to Detroit Future City for their report that highlighted this issue, and we're excited to continue partnering with City of Detroit Government to make sure Detroiters have the resources they need to stay in their homes.

🚨On March 31, 2022, the Wayne County Treasurer's Office plans to foreclose on over 8,000 owner-occupied homes, which is more than ever in Detroit’s history. MiHAF (Michigan Homeowner Assistance Fund) allocates up to $25,000 per eligible Michigan household to cover expenses, including delinquent property taxes. Detroit homeowners need more time to apply for and receive this funding to pay outstanding property tax bills before the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office takes their homes.
