I spoke with Angeline McCall at 9NEWS (KUSA) about one of the most frustrating issues affecting families currently navigating the U.S. immigration system: rapidly increasing processing times.

For marriage-based green card applicants in Colorado, cases that not long ago were often completed in less than a year can now take significantly longer. The unpredictability makes it increasingly difficult for families to plan their lives, employment, travel, and other major decisions. One of the first things I now tell prospective clients is that immigration timelines have become extremely difficult to predict. Some cases still move surprisingly quickly, while others can take one to two years or longer.

Congratulations to our client Jair from Mexico 🇲🇽 for receiving his 245(i) Adjustment of Status (legal permanent residence) through his wife Doris!

This case is an example of how SLOW the U.S. immigration system can be… Jair’s father first filed an I-130 petition for him in 2001, Jair and Doris signed the contract with our office to start his Adjustment of Status in June 2021 and after several twists and turns it is only now, more than 5 years later, that he can finally hold a green card in his hand! Congratulations to Jair and Doris and their grandchildren who wanted to join the special moment! 🇺🇸

Thank you 9NEWS (KUSA) and Jaleesa Irizarry for interviewing me about the latest USCIS memo regarding the Adjustment of Status process to obtain a green card in the United States.

At this time, we are not recommending that our clients change their immigration strategy because of this policy alone.

We are closely monitoring this situation and any future updates from USCIS or the courts. This policy is being challenged in court and additional guidance may be issued soon.
