Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that pilots are people too.

Like anyone else, pilots can face anxiety, depression, stress, and other mental health challenges. Unfortunately, many aviators hesitate to seek treatment because they’re concerned about how it could impact their FAA medical certificate and their ability to fly.

The reality is that your health comes first.

If you’ve sought mental health treatment and have questions about your FAA medical, know that there are pathways forward. The key is understanding the process and having the right guidance.

We’re committed to helping pilots navigate FAA medical certification issues and protect their future in aviation.

If you are worried seeking help might affect your medical or need help navigating the process, reach out to us today. ❤️‍🩹

An anxiety diagnosis doesn’t automatically mean your flying career is over.

The FAA has created pathways, including the Fast Track process, that may allow pilots to obtain their medical certificate without long delays depending on their symptoms, treatment history, and diagnosis.

In some cases, an AME may even be able to issue a medical the same day.

Every situation is different, which is why understanding the FAA medical process matters.

We’ve seen the comments, concerns, and everything in between surrounding the Frontier Flight 4345 incident at Denver International Airport and the filing made against DIA.

We understand why people have questions.

In this video, Dr. Joseph Ramos addresses those concerns directly.

This has never been about rushing to conclusions or capitalizing on tragedy. It’s about understanding whether proper safety measures, operational procedures, and responses were in place, and whether changes are needed to help prevent future catastrophic events.

As federal investigations continue, important questions still remain regarding airport perimeter security, operational response procedures, and whether appropriate actions were taken once the risk became known.

We encourage everyone to watch the full video before forming an opinion. If you have any questions, we're here to help.

There has been a lot of discussion surrounding the May 8 incident at Denver International Airport and the filing of a CGIA notice.

We wanted to provide context surrounding:

1. Why action was taken quickly
2. What a CGIA notice actually is
3. Who is actually being sued
4. What happens next

Federal investigations are ongoing, and many important questions still need answers regarding airport perimeter security, operational response, and whether appropriate actions were taken once the risk became known.

Aviation safety depends on layered systems designed to prevent catastrophic events before they occur.

And that is our ultimate goal.

Today, Ramos Law and DJC Law jointly announced that a formal Notice of Claim has been served regarding the May 8 incident on Runway 17L at Denver International Airport involving Frontier Flight 4345.

Passengers boarded that flight expecting a safe trip home. Instead, they experienced an aborted takeoff, engine fire, and emergency evacuation on an active runway.

Ramos Law and DJC Law have demanded that the City and County of Denver, the Denver Department of Aviation, the Denver Police Department, and Denver International Airport preserve all evidence relating to the incident and to perimeter security at the airport, including surveillance video, sensor data, access-control logs, radio and dispatch communications, internal incident reports, training records, and applicable policies and procedures.

The firms expect to amend and supplement the claim as the federal investigations progress and as additional facts come to light. Out of respect for our clients’ privacy and their ongoing medical care, no individual claimant will be made available for media interviews at this time.

Inquiries from the media should be directed to the contacts listed in the press release above.

Have you ever fainted, passed out, or experienced dizziness or lightheadedness as a pilot? If so, the FAA may require you to report it during your medical certification process.

In this week’s Medical Monday, aviation attorney Matthew Bulow breaks down how the FAA evaluates a history of syncope, what needs to be disclosed on your MedXPress application, and what pilots can expect if additional cardiac or neurological testing is required.

From simple dehydration-related events to unexplained fainting episodes, understanding the FAA’s process is critical to protecting your medical certificate and your ability to fly.

A tragic and highly unusual incident at Denver International Airport has sparked important conversations around airport perimeter security, runway safety, emergency response, and the human impact these events have on flight crews and passengers.
