FGHW was proud to be a sponsor of the First Annual 2026 Dallas Multifamily Mastermind Conference, a two-day event hosted by firm client Dearonne “Dee” Bethea and his team. Dee is a retired Army CW4 veteran who is on the road to build and own 100 sources of income spanning from Hawaii to the East Coast, and now focusing on the DFW multifamily market. Partner Paula Beasley, who gave a presentation on multifamily acquisitions, along with FGHW attorneys, Christopher Elam, Angella Sloan, and Bree Rials, provided legal counsel on the recent closing of a 248-unit property in Fort Worth. Day two of the conference included a bus tour to the recent acquisition, a prior purchase, and the flagship location of Treazure Studios, a salon suite concept providing education, support, and resources for the salon owners. It’s inspiring to watch Dee not only grow his companies, but also mentor, empower, and raise up everyone else around him throughout the process.

After graduating from the University of Arkansas, where he double majored in Business Administration in Economics and Psychology, John earned his J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law. He then attended SMU’s Dedman School of Law, where he received an LL.M. in Taxation. With extensive knowledge in myriad disciplines, John is a strong and pragmatic advocate for his clients. John’s practice focuses on probate and trust litigation, probate proceedings, and estate planning.

The Dallas Education Foundation recently joined scholarship recipients, alumni, donors, and supporters at the offices of Farrow-Gillespie Heath Wilmoth LLP for the annual Liza Farrow-Gillespie Intrepid Young Woman Scholarship Reception, an evening dedicated to celebrating achievement, community, and the transformative power of education.

The evening also marked an exciting milestone for three members of the Dallas ISD Class of 2026 who were recently named the newest recipients of the Liza Farrow-Gillespie Scholarship: Hannah Castillo, Emily Munoz, and Candela Zepeda. The reception highlighted the unique community that has grown around the scholarship program, creating opportunities for mentorship, encouragement, and lifelong relationships.
The Liza Farrow-Gillespie Scholarship supports outstanding Dallas ISD students as they pursue higher education and their future career goals. Beyond financial assistance, the program provides students with a network of supporters who are invested in their success throughout their educational journey.

FGHW is excited to announce that, beginning this Fall, former equity partner, Christian S. Kelso, will take on a new role as Assistant Professor of Law and Director of Estate Planning Programs at Texas Tech University School of Law. He will teach 1L Property, Wills & Trusts, Estate Planning, and Mergers & Acquisitions while also serving as the faculty advisor for Tech’s Estate Planning and Community Property Law Journal. During and after his transition to Texas Tech’s campus in Lubbock, Christian will remain a vital part of the firm’s Estate Planning and Probate section in an of counsel role. We’re extremely proud of Professor Kelso being called to this position and equally excited for him to realize this dream he’s been working toward for years!

Please join us in welcoming Breeann Rials to the commercial real estate practice at FGHW. Bree earned her J.D. from Southwestern Law School in 2017 and her B.A. in Political Science from Hampton University in 2012. Prior to joining FGHW, Bree founded an Illinois-based law practice focused primarily on real estate transactions where she represented clients in residential and commercial sales working closely with agents, lenders, title companies, and business owners in fast-paced transactional environments. In addition to her real estate practice, Breeann has experience working in governmental and public-sector legal roles involving regulatory and compliance-related matters. She was recently appointed to the Oak Leaf Planning & Zoning Commission and also volunteers as a judge for high school speech, debate, and mock trial competitions.

Each year, Attorneys Serving the Community raises funds to support local nonprofit organizations whose programs directly benefit women, children, and families. Shared Housing Center is this year’s beneficiary. They provide affordable housing options and supportive services to the Dallas area’s at-risk, single-parent families, and elderly population. Over 1.2 million children under the age of six experience homelessness and over 85% of homeless families are headed by women, primarily single mothers with children. It’s the end of Spring Semester: University students are either heading home for a much-needed break or celebrating graduation. Many professors are getting ready for a relaxing summer, however, that’s not the case with all of them. FGHW partner Paula Beasley has had the privilege of teaching a Real Estate Law class at SMU’s Cox School of Business for the last 18 years while also heading up the firm's Real Estate division by day. It means a great deal to us that her students find learning from Paula as rewarding as she finds teaching, and it’s clear from their feedback that she’s making a real difference in their academic lives and beyond. We thought we’d share some of things they said after this last semester about Paula and her Real Estate Law class.
