Sixty years ago, our Vietnam veterans came home to a country that didn't always welcome them.
This week, my daddy, Darrell Thomas, got the welcome home he deserved. ❤️🇺🇸
I had the privilege of accompanying him to Washington, D.C., with Queen City Honor Flight. Watching him visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, reflect on his service, and be surrounded by so much love and gratitude is something I'll never forget.
A special thank you to Queen City Honor Flight for honoring veterans across generations, and to our dear family friend Mike Stubbs, a fellow Vietnam veteran who continues serving others through his work with the organization.
And thank you to for spending the day with us and helping share these important stories.
I wish every Vietnam veteran could experience this kind of homecoming. It's long overdue. The full video is on our We Love Concord YouTube channel. I've linked it in my Stories.
This is the welcome home our Vietnam veterans should have received nearly 60 years ago! We can't change the welcome home they received decades ago, but we can make sure they know how much we appreciate them TODAY.
A few weeks ago, I wrote in my Substack about how we're losing our World War II veterans and the stories that disappear with them. Check it out: https://leighthomasbrown.substack.com/p/there-was-only-one-wwii-vet-left
Welcome home, Daddy. We love you. ❤️🇺🇸
