This is a great move for our state and those of us who strive to protect and promote equal parenting rights!

If you are a Mississippi parent going through a divorce, a bill moving through the state legislature could soon change the way a judge decides how much time you spend with your children.

House Bill 1662 would create a rebuttable presumption in favor of joint custody with equal parenting time, meaning courts would automatically start every custody case at a 50-50 split. A judge could still award a different arrangement, but would be required to document the reasons in writing.

As with most things, there’s a story here! 🏡 Our office is located at 2125 Bell Avenue in the heart of Sandfield. A neighborhood rich with family, good people and a lot of history. And it brings immense joy to occupy this space as our office. This was once (and for some always will be known as) “The Taylor Family Home”! Many years ago we rescued it from blight and decay and restored it to a state that would enhance the neighborhood it sits in. And bring honor to the great family that once called it home! Every so often a Taylor family member will stop by and remind us that this was their family home and some recall actually being born in this house!

People often marvel at the craftsmanship and decor - but mostly they say how comfortable they feel when they come in to handle their business. I could boast about the renovation effort but mostly it’s the love that the Taylors left in these walls that makes it such a warm inviting atmosphere. Every time I think of relocating the office elsewhere, that love captivates me and the idea of moving away dissipates.

Truth be told, it’s hard to imagine being anyplace else! Guess this was simply Taylor-made for The Clinkscales Law Firm! 🏠✨

Our office is regularly called on to prepare Quitclaim Deeds for land that falls under what is known as “heir property”. Untangling the web of family land is a daunting task but one that we find rewarding. 😇 Truthfully, most clients need more than a deed so we work to help peel back the layers of family lineage and get to the root of ownership rights and interest. It is helpful to families to clear up ownership of land so that they can peacefully enjoy their property. It also helps to aid in planning and development of valuable land. This is empowerment at its best!

Note: our best advice is to have an estate plan! Get a Will done or deed the land before you die! It’s worth the investment!
