What Happens Now? 👇

Although the filing period for new Future Tort Claims has ended, the Trust is still completing its review of the remaining pending claims.

According to the Trust, payments for approved Category A claims cannot begin until pending Court motions challenging denied claims have been resolved.

Understanding Category A Claims 👇

The Trust has reported receiving more than 40,000 Future Tort Claims, far more than originally anticipated.

Because of the high number of claims, each approved claimant will receive a pro rata share of the funds available for Category A, rather than the full scheduled value.

Tronox Trust Update 👇

Our office continues to monitor updates from the Tronox Incorporated Tort Claims Trust to help keep our clients informed.

The Trust has announced that February 11, 2026, was the deadline for submitting new Future Tort Claims (Category A). The Trust is no longer accepting new claims.

The Trust is currently completing its review of the remaining Category A claims. According to the Trust, it expects to finalize the processing of these claims in late 2026.

The Trust has also stated that payments cannot begin until the Court rules on all pending motions related to denied claims.

If you are one of our clients, there is nothing you need to do at this time unless our office contacts you directly.

This is a great move for our state and those of us who strive to protect and promote equal parenting rights!

If you are a Mississippi parent going through a divorce, a bill moving through the state legislature could soon change the way a judge decides how much time you spend with your children.

House Bill 1662 would create a rebuttable presumption in favor of joint custody with equal parenting time, meaning courts would automatically start every custody case at a 50-50 split. A judge could still award a different arrangement, but would be required to document the reasons in writing.
