FIFA World Cup...reasons you need Smith Schabo Law

Credit to A giant inflatable version of the 2026 FIFA World Cup ball briefly turned the streets of El Salvador into what looked suspiciously like a real-life video game.

Footage shared online shows the enormous football rolling through traffic after reportedly breaking free from its moorings during strong winds and stormy weather.

Drivers were forced to swerve and slow down as the runaway ball bounced unpredictably through the streets, creating a chaotic, and admittedly hilarious, scene.

The inflatable display had been set up as part of World Cup-related promotions but appears to have been no match for the weather conditions.

As videos of the incident spread online, many viewers immediately pointed out the obvious comparison: it looked like a live-action version of Rocket League, the wildly popular game where players use cars to chase around an oversized football.

Some joked that motorists had accidentally joined a ranked match, while others wondered where the goalposts were.

Thankfully, there were no reports of serious injuries, although the giant ball certainly managed to score plenty of attention.

For a few moments at least, El Salvador's roads became the world's most unexpected football pitch.

Would you want to play in real life Rocket League?
