𝗖𝗢𝗢 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘆 attended the 𝗞𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗮 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗻 where she has served as a past committee chair, board member, member and corporate representative. Today the key note speaker was Judge Amber Patterson who joined the Cobb County Juvenile Court Bench in 2016. Additionally, the Club recognized Marietta City School Teachers, Staff and Students who Go the Extra Mile with “GEM” awards and lunch in their honor.

The exciting news today is that the Marietta Kiwanis Club has been awarded a $75,000 City of Marietta Grant to construct the every-five-year field of flags memorial to the victims lost in the 9/11 Terrorist Attack on New York’s World Trade Center. The memorial has historically been located at The Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Stay tuned and ask how to get involved!

This year The Kiwanis Cub of Marietta serves as the home club for the Vice-Governor of Kiwanis, Debbie McCracken, pictured with COO Shelia Manely above. On St. Patrick's Day ☘️ the myth of hidden treasure feels fitting — because in divorce proceedings, hidden finances are more common than most people expect. And far more costly.

In divorce, full financial disclosure isn't optional. Courts require both parties to fully disclose all assets, debts, income, and expenses. Hiding or understating finances doesn't just create conflict — it can result in serious legal consequences.

Here's a simple starting point for getting organized:
✅ Assets — bank accounts, retirement accounts, real estate, vehicles, investments, business interests
✅ Debts — mortgages, credit cards, loans, tax liabilities
✅ Income — pay stubs, tax returns (last 2–3 years), self-employment records

There's no magic at the end of the rainbow. Fair outcomes in divorce come from clarity, honesty, and preparation — not luck.

Today's legal milestone honors Thurgood Marshall, a champion of civil rights in the U.S. and a leader in setting legal precedent. A civil rights lawyer and jurist, Mr. Marshall created a legacy that earned him the nickname "Mr. Civil Rights", and became the nation's first Black United States Supreme Court Justice where he served for 24 years.
