Hello Everyone!
Please excuse us for the delay on this post, but for those of you who haven’t passed by the Troop in the last month, here it is! The final product of the Cadet’s hard work during the summer fundraising for a new sign to be erected at Troop K is up for all to see. Below is some information as to how it all came about, as well as pictures from the dedication ceremony.

A brief history on this project:
Prior to what you see now, a wooden sign sat on the front lawn of Troop K. This sign deteriorated over time and untimely fell apart and was removed. From that moment until now, nothing took its place. An idea was hatched to erect a replica of the neon sign put up in the 1930’s that once stood proudly in front of Troop K.
The cadets took this idea and ran with it. Cadets spoke at a Colchester Business Association monthly asking for support and the Post also held a car wash at the Saint Joseph’s Polish Society raising almost $900.00. In addition, they went door to door to local businesses seeking donations as well as recycling bags and bags of bottles and cans raising $374.50 (which is equivalent to 7490 bottles and cans!)
The driving force behind the success of this project was the extreme generosity of local businesses and citizens. Our initial fundraising goal was to raise between $3,000 -$5,000 to purchase the hanging sign, supplementing the balance of the $11,000 cost with funds from the Post checking account saved over the years from previous fundraisers, including running the entire parking operation at the Haddam Neck Fair for ten years.
Thanks to the hard work of the Cadets and support from all the donors involved, our fundraising effort far exceeded our original goal raising more than $15,000. As a result, we were also able to purchase an additional sign which has been placed above the front door of our barracks.
Again, thank you to everyone who helped make this project a huge success!

Good afternoon everyone!
Over the past couple of months, the Cadets have been hard at work fundraising to purchase and replace a sign to be displayed proudly on the lawn at the Troop K Barracks. The sign will replicate one which was originally installed in the 1930's, complete with neon lettering.

The Cadets organized and hosted a carwash fundraiser at the St. Joseph's Polish Society in Colchester, which was a tremendous success. In addition, we received donations from local businesses as well as many individuals towards this project. We would like to recognize the following businesses who have helped towards this cause:

Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home, Baldi Landscaping, Brakes and More, Clark’s Landscaping, Clothes-Pin Laundry, Colchester Mill Fabrics & Quilting, Colchester Pizza, Colchester Veterinary Hospital, D.H. Marvin & Son, Dollar General of Colchester, Drs. Kierstein and DiFrancesca, Dunkin of Colchester, Fresca Bar & Grill, Gano’s Power Equipment, GH Trailers, Gung Ho Restaurant, Harry’s Place, Hope Ace Hardware, Joe’s Barbershop of Colchester, John Gagnon’s Pet Resort, Mark’s United Auto Parts, Merciful Savior Gift Shop, Noel’s Supermarket, Performance Physical Therapy, Professional Therapeutic Massage, Rental Center of Colchester, Scotties Frozen Custard, Skyview Realty, Southeastern Regional Action Council, State Farm Insurance of Colchester, The Inishmor Pub, Twisted Dog Yoga, Two Brothers Pizza Restaurant, and the Willimantic BJ’s Wholesale Club, Marlborough Bakery, and the Colchester Adult Education.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for when the sign is completed and installed at the Troop, you won't be ale to miss it!

On February 20th, three of our Cadets braved the cold weather and the even colder water, to participate in the Chill for Change fundraiser at Camp Ingersoll YMCA in Portland, CT. This is the 7th year Camp Ingersoll has held this event, and the Cadet Post was happy to contribute money towards its fundraising, which ended up raising over $22,000!

The event Chill for Change raises money to help send kids to Camp Ingersoll who otherwise may not be able to afford it. The Cadet Post has utilized the camp’s grounds to facilitate our meetings in a safe, outdoor setting during these Covid times.

Stay tuned for more updates as we look to resume our regular meetings shortly!

Hello everyone! We know it's been awhile since you all have heard from us, but that's because the Post was busy! We managed the entire parking detail at the Haddam Neck Fair over Labor Day weekend, assisted the State Police raising money for the Special Olympics, and over the holiday season assisted various town's with their local toy drives for families in need. The Cadets were eager and happy to help local Police Departments and Troop K in gathering hundreds of toys to distribute within the community.

Stay tuned for more pictures and posts to come, and as always feel free to drop us a message if you are interested in stopping by for a meeting and seeing what we're all about!
