In 2000, our client Anthony was brutally tortured by Chicago Police detectives into falsely confessing to a murder he did not commit. He was charged with First Degree Murder. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office sought the death penalty. He was convicted and sentenced to 45 years in prison.

In 2022, lawyers at Bedi & Singer, LLP began representing him. Since then, his conviction was overturned. His false, coerced, and tortured statement was suppressed. He was released from custody.

And today, after a five-day trial and nearly 26 years after being charged with a crime he did not commit, Anthony was found Not Guilty.

After 25 long years, our client's conviction was vacated. In 2000, he was arrested and convicted of a murder he did not commit. He was convicted based solely on a coerced confession obtained through torture at the hands of the Chicago Police—he spent decades behind bars fighting for the truth to come to light.

After relentless advocacy, we successfully vacated our client’s conviction, proving what should have been clear from the start: he was tortured and wrongfully accused. A big shoutout to Courtney Knippen and the whole Bedi & Singer team for the work on his behalf.

As we celebrate his conviction being overturned, Bedi & Singer remain committed to fighting for our clients— no matter how long it takes.

After a long legal battle, Bedi & Singer has successfully secured the release of Joseph Sorrentino from custody, who has been in custody for 41 years. In 1983, Joe was arrested and convicted of murder in front of the notorious and corrupt Judge Maloney of Operation Greylord fame. Maloney was convicted in Federal Court of bribery and sentenced to 15 years. After years of appeals in state court which were long ago denied, after relief in federal district court was denied, the 7th Circuit overturned Joe's conviction and sent his case back to the trial court. This week the Illinois appellate court overturned the denial of Joe's pretrial release and ordered him released. Today for the first time in 41 years he is with his family. A huge and emotional victory for Joe.

A big shoutout goes to Casey McGushin from Kirkland & Ellis for the Appellate work on behalf of Joe.

As we celebrate Mr. Sorrentino's long-awaited freedom, we remain committed to fighting for our clients— no matter how long it takes.
